About A Mental Reset
Recorded September/October 2024, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
All tracks are created with modular and hardware gear, recorded in stereo and mastered in Ableton via a Weiss master chain.
Beside the TipTop Audio Z-DSP’s and several modules creating atmospheric layers (using envelop followers controlling them), each track has a main “instrument”.
- All MentelScans: are created with 3 ACL Q-LFO’s where the 1v/o inputs are chained, this makes the created wave forms unique from harsh noise till freaky bubbling sine like tunes and everything in between.
- The Reset (words by Alan Watts – the inspiration for this album): 4MS sampler has a sound bank of several modular sounds + Waldorf Pulse 2.
- Brain Exercise P1 and P2: Rob Hordijk Benjolin as sound and modulation source controlling Pittsburg Modular set up + live input into TipTop Audio Granular processor.
- Rethink: ADDAC 112 granular & looping module ideal for drone like tunes.
- Consideration: TipTop Audio Buchla set up + Pittsburg Modular chain as lead voice.
- Coincident: a modular track played through several granular modules (ADDAC 112, Mungo g0, TipTop Audio Z-DSP).
- Peaceful Memory: voices of a DOT plugin played with a Rample sampler module + Pittsburg Modular chain as a bass (Elektron Machinedrum for hats).
- Breath Taking: a collection of modular VCO’s (bit detuned) creating layers + Benjolin module controlling noise sources.
- Thoughts Trigger: Moog Matriarch + envelop follower controlling several modular sound sources.
All sound sources connected with 3 UAD Apollo 19-inch interfaces where each input has a channel strip insert managing the EQ setting obtaining space and atmosphere. All inputs summed as a stereo feed recorded into Ableton 12.
Studio monitoring: ADAM A7X plus a sub (10 inch).
